depuis le XVIIe si\u00e8cle par la corporation des charcutiers. Suite \u00e0 un incendie qui d\u00e9truisit toute la partie basse du lieu, l&rsquo;Association du Souvenir de la Charcuterie fran\u00e7aise, pr\u00e9sid\u00e9e par Monsieur Hilaire B\u00e9gat et accompagn\u00e9e du P\u00e8re G\u00e9rard B\u00e9n\u00e9teau, a d\u00e9sir\u00e9 r\u00e9activer l\u2019histoire et la m\u00e9moire de la chapelle en faisant appel \u00e0 un artiste contemporain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Inaugur\u00e9e en 2000, l\u2019\u0153uvre de John Armleder est constitu\u00e9e d\u2019un ensemble d\u2019\u00e9l\u00e9ments amovibles qui respectent les principes des b\u00e2timents historiques. Deux peintures, des <em>Pour Paintings<\/em>, ont \u00e9t\u00e9 r\u00e9alis\u00e9es dans l&rsquo;\u00e9glise et plac\u00e9es sous les deux peintures murales attribu\u00e9es au peintre Th\u00e9odore Pils. Une table de verre, plac\u00e9e sous le vitrail central, supporte une urne en verre. Au sol, une trame de clous polis en laiton dispos\u00e9s de mani\u00e8re r\u00e9guli\u00e8re sur le plancher en bois prolonge le d\u00e9ambulatoire en reprenant le quadrillage des dalles de marbre. Une projection bleut\u00e9e d\u2019une croix surmonte la table.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>L\u2019\u0153uvre dialogue avec les formes pr\u00e9existantes par un jeu particulier de couleur et de lumi\u00e8re. En journ\u00e9e, la lumi\u00e8re naturelle filtr\u00e9e par les couleurs du vitrail, circule et se r\u00e9fl\u00e9chit sur les divers \u00e9l\u00e9ments pr\u00e9sents dans la chapelle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lors de la messe annuelle des charcutiers, une feuille sur laquelle sont inscrits les noms des charcutiers morts dans l\u2019ann\u00e9e est d\u00e9pos\u00e9e dans l\u2019urne en verre. Participant \u00e0 la c\u00e9r\u00e9monie, l&rsquo;oeuvre acquiert toute sa dimension symbolique en gardant et rendant visible la m\u00e9moire de cette corporation. Au fil des ann\u00e9es, les feuilles s&rsquo;accumulent dans l&rsquo;urne ce qui t\u00e9moigne d&rsquo;une \u0153uvre ouverte et en perp\u00e9tuelle \u00e9volution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #808080;\"><br><em>Charcutiers&rsquo;s chapel<\/em><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #808080;\">The Charcutiers&rsquo;s chapel has been invested in by the charcutiers corporation (pork butcher&rsquo;s business) since the seventeenth century. After a fire that destroyed a part of the downspace, the Association of the Souvenir of the French Charcuterie, directed by Hilaire B\u00e9gat and accompanied by father G\u00e9rard B\u00e9n\u00e9teau, wanted to commemorate the history and memory of the chapel by commisioning an artwork by a contemporary artist.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #808080;\">Inaugurated in 2000, John Armleder&rsquo;s piece of work consists of different detachable elements that respect the principles of the historical buildings. Two paintings called \u00ab\u00a0Pour Paintings\u00a0\u00bb, have been made in the church and settled beneath two other paintings of Th\u00e9odore Pils. A glass table, put beneath the main stained glass, bears a glass pole. On the wood floor, a&nbsp; line of polish nails in brass extends the ambulatory, following the squaring of the marble slabs. A blue video projection surmounts the table.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #808080;\">The artwork engages a dialogue with pre-established forms through a particular set of colors and lights. In one full day, the natural light filtered by the colors of the stained glass moves and is reflected on different parts of the chapel.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #808080;\">During the Charcutier&rsquo;s annual mass, the names of the pork butchers who died during the year are inscribed on a paper and put into the glass pole. Sharing the ceremony, the piece of art acheives its symbolic dimension, by keeping and rendering visible the memory of the corporation.
